Roachdale – Mrs. Kate (Nichols) Thomas, 85, died Tuesday in Putnam County Hospital, Greencastle. She had been in ill health three years. A life resident of the Roachdale and Russellville communities, she was the widow of Elmer C. Thomas. She was a member of Raccoon Methodist Church. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Ada Wyatt of Greencastle; Mrs. Lola Kostanzer of Crawfordsville; Mrs. Olive Miller of Lafayette; Mrs. Melissa Harbison of Russellville and Mrs. Florence Jeffries of Roachdale; three sons, Harry of Indianapolis; Elmer Jr. of Greencastle and Alfred of Portland, Ore; a brother, Walter Nichols and a sister, Mrs. Odessa Peffley.

“Funeral Notice” – Thomas, Mrs. Kate – Friends may call at Perkins Funeral Home, Roachdale, where services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, the Rev. Lester Niles officiating; interment in Hebron Cemetery Russellville.  Sixteen grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren survive. A grandson and sister, Mrs. Viola Ruark preceded Mrs. Thomas in death.
